Green bags
Green
bags are an eco-friendly solution to the world’s
plastic bag problem. Currently, about one million plastic bags per minute
are being used each day. This means that billions of these bags eventually
end up as litter per year. Plastic bags do not biodegrade and, as a
result, harm many creatures through choking or by simply photodegrading
into small, contaminating, toxic pieces.
The way green bags help this situation is by being built to last and
be reused, creating no litter. Every time someone chooses to employ
a green bag, another plastic bag is unused. Given that the U.S. uses
over 380 billion plastic bags per year, this could potentially eliminate
the need for hundreds of plastic bags over one reusable bag’s
lifetime.
Green bags are created from such materials such as Tyvek and polyethelene.
These are created from plastic and are often used for preservation purposes.
Some variations of reusable
bags include insulating bags, messenger bags, coffee bags,
and produce bags for individual purchases.
